Firstly, the history of your herd’s health needs to be taken into consideration. An analysis of calving, fertility, lameness, mastitis and cell-count are good places to begin. It is highly recommended to conduct Blood and Milk mineral profiles, examining the level of macro and micro-nutrients. This should be independently verified by the spectrometer in a lab.

Liver Biopsies can also be performed by a qualified vet to establish current mineral levels. Minerals recommended being evaluated are Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Cobalt, Copper, Iodine Molybdenum, Selenium and Zinc.
Once there has been an accurate analysis of the cow’s health, we believe that you need to then focus on the feed profiles. Drinking and foraging profiles allow you then prepare the rates of supplement and mineral requirements.
