Young Farmer of the year Kevin Moran was having difficulty managing grass. He was using meal as a tool to manage grass. He was purchasing branded meals with added minerals to feed his herd. At the time grass was plentiful.  Purchasing this feed was proving to be very uneconomical and wasn’t providing the herd with enough nutrients. Before using this system there were 220 in the herd with about eighteen unretained cleanings, which was a major cost to the farm. Currently, there are 250 in the herd with only two causes of retained cleanings.

He chose the TERRA NutriTECH System as he could incorporate the minerals and other nutrients needed for the herd into the water system. This meant he didn’t have to use as much meal and utilize more grass.

By using this system it has reduced the financial cost of using meal by €50/€60 per litre and reduced the amount of meal used. The herd health has improved immensely since using this system. Within a couple of weeks, you could also see how healthy and shiny the herd’s coats looked.
