Benefits of Minerals for Sheep
Good mineral nutrition is essential for sheep health, and it’s essential that your herd receives adequate daily vitamins and minerals as part of a balanced diet.
Sheep require minerals in order to grow and to produce lambs and wool. Minerals serve many functions within an animal. They are important for bone development, enzyme activation, muscle contractions, regulating acid-base balances and are a component of hormones critical for maintaining the well-being of your sheep. Sheep require the major minerals sodium, chlorine, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, and trace minerals, including cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, and selenium.
Our Technology
The TERRA NutriTECH OPIS Controller can deliver liquid supplements through the water system of any yard where sheep access their drinking water through a centralised water system and do not have access to alternate sources. Blends of minerals, amino acids, vitamin mixes, acids, phytogenics, enzymes and probiotics are just some of the products that can be added and they can be administered either proportionally or on a grams per head per day basis. Up to 6 supplements can be dosed and the timer function can be used to control dispensing at different times if desired. The full range of reporting functions around product usage, livestock numbers and stock levels by product is also available.
Alarms
The system can be customised to have alarms set for abnormal water flows which will alert the farm in the event of a deviation by push notification. These alarms can either be leaks, pump failure or stuck ballcocks and can be set to suit the conditions on each individual farm.
Our Data
Data around water consumption, supplement usage and livestock numbers are available to farms and can be integrated with other farm management systems in most cases.
